Rights or Rebellion

That building you can always recall with memories of days in trouble

Fight and mischief with our friends surely you can’t forget it all

Remember how we used to complain about how they see them more than us?

After all that effort of looking dumb all we get is none.

Yes, I agree it’s all unfair.

year after year can’t they see?

How we grew and learned to fight

for rights and do more responsibility.

Somehow I never knew things would turn out this way.

To end it all with a bang

Will they remember us after this?

With actions so blunt and words so slang.

Bully? Who are we kidding?

It’s just a word in the dictionary

It’s part of it, growing up

things to write in my diary.

In the end we’re all just friends

Entirely fake or true

Let’s remember these years as a part of us

To ready ourselves for something new.

Feelin’ Chilly? Try a hoody?

Today’s generation has the so-called “emo” look. This comes up with a dark shaded hoody with super skinny jeans and simply sneakers. It’s more of a gothic-punky look that has captured many people’s eyes. Hoodies are one of the best pieces of clothes that have brought a huge impact on the outfit.

But you know, you could still wear your remarkable hoodies without having that extraordinary look. Since Christmas season is coming closer, and we’re all craving for jackets and sweaters to warm up ourselves, now fashion world has the trendy answers for our request!

Hoodies are usually described as hooded jackets and sweatshirts, may zip-front or drawstring. A pocket is also positioned at the bottom to add elegance to the hoody. Around malls, you could see different kinds of hoodies; they may have vivid graphics, eye-catchy prints, striking colors, and detailed designs that would suit those girly ones. But if you’re after a rebellious look; there are also those black and gray jackets. These could go best with any top and straight-cut pants or skinny jeans with the compliment of those trendy boots that would really be fitting with the season!

As for men, there are also stylish hoodies that would match their moods and personalities. It may be checkered, colorful, pale, sporty and just those simple ones. Men bring themselves with great pride so these could vibe with anything that suits their moods. The hoody trend will really put a big boom on fashionistas’ everyday lives.

Sandwich makes a huge splash once again with the release of a new album <S> Marks the spot under EMI Philippines, in celebration of their 10^th year in the local music scene.

From GRIP STAND THROW (1999), to FOUR TRACK MIND (2001), and to THANKS TO THE MOON’S GRAVITATIONAL PULL (2003), Sandwich talks of a much bigger progression this time as their kick-off single “Procrastinator” topped charts just after it was aired on the screen. This just proves the band’s will to create fresh and innovative sounds and arrangements in every new album. <S> MARKS THE SPOT is a 15-song collection that documents the band’s travels and adventures from the past two years. The album’s second single “Betamax”, a song which recalls the old OPM/local music scene including their background influences, also became a successful hit.

Sandwich is a band formed in 1998 and was originally composed by Marc Abaya(Kwjan) as vocalist, Raimund Marasigan and Diego Castillo on Guitars, Myrene Academia as bassist, and drummer Mike Dizon. Yers after, Marc Abaya dicided to quit the band which left Raimund on frontman duty and the addition of Miguel “Mong” Alcaraz (Chicosci) on lead guitar. Despite Marc’s exit, Sandwich had been much successful then ever and now enjoying the biggest hits of their lives.

“Twilight” the new genre of romance. ..

Forget all the vampire stories you have read before and say hello to a different and well written novel that will surely capture your hunger for a love story that will not only leave you with satisfaction but also addiction to this new genre of romance.This book not only captivates young adults but also the once young and the young at heart. The story was told by its lead character Isabella “Bella” Swan who moves into Arizona where she was at first isolated and seemed to be an outcast since she’s still new in the place and on her first day in school, she found herself seated beside Edward Cullen, an attractive yet enigmatic young lad who tried to avoid her ever since they met. Her sarcastic inner voice narrates the story, so the readers only know what Bella knows As the story progresses, Bella found herself entangled with mystifying local tribal legends, she then finds out that Edward’s family are all vampires, she is much relieved to learn that the Cullens choose to abstain from drinking human blood, and drink animal blood instead. It did not much bother her knowing that Edward is a vampire because she had already fallen in love with him. Edward and Bella’s love for each other grew so strong that they’re going to conquer anything that would hinder their intense yet forbidden union. The description of the places that the story took place was beautifully described which allows the reader to be toured in that specific plot the author is trying to picture into the mind of her readers. "For almost ninety years I've walked among my kind, and yours ... all the time thinking I was complete in myself, not realizing what I was seeking. And not finding anything, because you weren't alive yet.", the ice-cream melting words of Edward towards Bella, his newfound life and with that Bella expresses her desire to become a vampire, which Edward refuses to let happen. I know that everyone will find this story appealing and exciting. For young people who sees this book I know they’ll think that it’s too long but trust me don’t judge a book by its cover. This is one book that you don’t want to miss and end.

The Art of Changing

“An honest voice can be louder than a crowd’s,” the famous line of the sorority blonde turned Harvard lawyer, Elle Wood in the heartwarming movie, Legally Blonde.

What if you happened to be in a cosmos where the first sight would seem to be surreal but when you analyze deep into that surreal vista, take a closer look, read between the lines and not be deceived by the first sight at hand, you will actually be surprised that there are more flaws: corruption in the government and even down to the tiniest part of the society, bribery of the influential moneymakers just for them to be the “mitochondria” of the whole system and for their aims to be materialized through their monetary efforts, crab mentalities of those people at the top of their games who’d do what it takes to keep the crowns on their heads even if it means dispatching the really capable people on the line, pretensions of being such nurtured individuals outside of their shells who’d tuck every inch of their imperfections and pretend that they’re the best of the best capable of handling all kinds of weathers and the callous conscience they’re bearing which makes all these flaws an immunity on the reflection reality which makes everyone else forget the what was once a surreal view of pure intentions and equality for all.

What kind of cosmos is that or can anyone ever fathom that kind of world where no one dares to make a move and change what should be changed? It’s just too good to be true but sadly, that cosmos is our very own motherland, the Philippines and will Filipinos ever find a remedy in curing its life-threatening disease…

“How can one seek change if he or she still continues to live up to the system?”

We can’t just sit there and watch things happen as if injustices are normal in our everyday lives. It’s just simple to say that if by some chances you had a wound, would you just isolate yourself in one corner, dwell on the pain and let it heal by itself as time passes? NO! No one would cure that malady without you having to do something about it, if you can’t fight its, maybe it’s time to change your healing ways and use another remedy that would heal what should really be healed.

These injustices would continue to prevail if you would allow fear to control your sense of being, fear of those people who always speak on your behalf and do all the patching-ups so the real deal won’t be exposed.

As Barack Obama puts it, it’s time to make a change, if you can’t fix it, change it and stop becoming who you were and start becoming who you really are…

And how can we possibly do that? By being aware of what is happening in the environment may it be fair or unjust, remembering that little knowledge is very dangerous, by using our voices not only for own sake but most importantly for the good of others and that is where change begins.

Keeping in mind when Jesus Christ tried to change the flaws of mankind, he was persecuted and condemned for fighting for the good and was even seen as the criminal for saving mankind from evil but He never stopped believing that a day would come in which all the world’s chaos would doom to an end because He had so much faith in His people and as our dear alma mater quotes it, “BE THE CHANGE THAT YOU WANT TO HAPPEN”.
